Virgin Aluminum oxide (Al2O3) is an extremely sharp, long-lasting blasting abrasive that can be recycled many times. Both virgin and recycled aluminum oxide are available. Provides maximum hardness for blasting applications from rust removal and cleaning forged iron & chrome steel to powder coatings and etching. Virgin Aluminum Oxide is a friable, high purity, medium-density abrasive. It is designed for usual industrial use in operations like lapping, polishing, refractory coating for investment cast shells, decorative non-skid tile, and pressure blasting. It is used where high purity and/or highly friable abrasive is desired.

Grit Sizes: A very simple and non-technical way of understanding coarse grit sizes is to use a 1/2" (a half-inch) mesh square as an eg. A 50 grit will have 50 tiny holes in that 1/2" square and thus particles are 1/50th of a half-inch or finer than that. A 10 grit will have particles of 1/10th inch, and so on.
