What is a PS Ball?
PS Ball stands for Precious Slag Ball, which is an innovative material that can be produced by the rapid cooling of slag which generated from steel making process by means of our own Slag Atomizing Technology (SAT). It has superior characteristics compared to Garnet sand or copper slag in its compressive strength, hardness, and anti weathering. The liquid steel slag stream is transformed into spherical slag balls of various sizes by the supercooling method of molten slag, using fast heat exchange of the falling liquid steel slag in high-speed airflow. During this process, free CaO and Fe2O3 are scattered to form a solid PS ball and thus produced is in a stable Spinel Structure.

Characteristics of PS Ball
- PS Ball is widely used in many applications like Shipbuilding, Ship maintenance, Oil Storage Tank, Mega Bridge, Heavy Steel Structure, Oil Rig Platform, Petroleum Probe and etc., in cleaning and surface preparation.
- PS Balls are Eco-friendly material that doesn't accept any toxic things because of its natural characteristic hardness, diameter in structure, shape, physical and chemical compositions.
- The Spinal structure of PS Ball, Stabilized physical and chemical composition helps to eliminate the causes of pollution.
- PS Ball has better characteristics compared with sand on compressive toughness, hardness, and anti-weathering.
Application of PS Ball
- Abrasive Blasting Material- Unlike the case of mineral abrasives like garnet, PS the ball is completely dust free and this makes it suitable for use in surface preparation, rust removal, and shipbuilding applications. It is also commonly used for the maintenance of ships.
- Casting Sand- PS Balls to find applications in oil storage tanks, bridge construction work, in construction of heavy steel structures, in oil rig platforms, and so on; mainly for purposes of cleaning and surface preparation and are used for cleaning welded areas in storage tanks before repainting.
- Reinforcement Material- It can be used as an abrasive material, to clean material surfaces and prepare them for painting.
- Other Concrete Products- The typical characteristics make PS balls perfect for use in blast cleaning applications, as they provide the correct atomizing of materials with respect to size, density, hardness, and durability.
- Weight Material- Due to its high bulk specific gravity of 2.42 Kg/l, precious slag balls are widely used as a counterbalance in many applications.
- Filter Media- PS ball is also used as a filtration medium as it is non-water absorbent and is very durable.
- Non-slip Material- Because of its non-slip properties, PS Balls can be used as covering on the road or as paving for concrete and asphalt roads. It adheres effectively with concrete, and can, therefore, be used as efficient repair or reinforcement material for various purposes.
Advantages of PS Ball as an Abrasive Blasting Material
- Excellent hardness for blasting.
- Improve the Efficiency of work.
- Less dust during the blasting work than Silica or Garnet.
- Reuse available (2~3 times) by recycling equipment.
- Good intensity of illumination.
